MYAN Trainings

Bring MYAN to a town near you!

MYAN has heard from YOU that you want more opportunities for training and that you want them as close to your schools and communities as possible because money and time are tight for everyone these days. It is our intention to reach as many youth and adults across the state as possible to help them build the skills and connections they need to be leaders, advocates and partners for community change. So with that in mind, we are very excited to announce that in 2011-2012, we have built in the capacity to offer more trainings upon request! We are offering:

  • 24 FREE trainings (3 free trainings in each of Maine’s 8 Public Health Districts, first come, first served), and
  • additional trainings beyond the first three for a negotiable fee.

Contact us early (via the form below) to take advantage of this new opportunity!

Our Approach to Training

Our philosophy is that every training experience is a mutual learning opportunity: we bring our own experiences, a learning framework, resources, tools and sometimes a rubber chicken, and participants brings their own unique experiences and perspectives, too, making each training different and valuable for all of us. All MYAN trainings are interactive and fun, while exploring different angles of the topic at hand and providing opportunities to think about practical applications of the ideas being discussed.  Our intention is for our trainings to help participants of all ages build skills to be strong leaders, advocates and partners on issues about which they feel passionate. As is all our work, our training are grounded in theories of positive youth development.

MYAN will work with you to schedule a training on a time and date that meet your needs. We can:

  • offer one of the set curriculums described below
  • develop and offer customized trainings or presentations (1-6 hours) on:
    • youth leadership
    • advocacy
    • action planning
    • team-building/group development
    • youth engagement
    • youth-adult partnership.
